59 Chemical Companies to Review Safety Data in their REACH Dossier

Monday, August 12, 2019

Cefic announces no less than 59 chemical companies (https://cefic.org/app/uploads/2019/08/List-of-signatories-1-August-2019.pdf) have signed up to its Action Plan aimed to provide REACH registrants with a framework which will help them evaluate their safety data and make sure it aligns with the latest regulatory guidelines. The Action plan, launched on June 26, will be conducted in cooperation with the European Chemical Agency (ECHA).

In a second phase, Cefic plans to launch a pilot project, together with ECHA, focused on limiting animal testing as much as possible by developing case studies and best practices for the use of alternative methods when it comes to testing chemicals. This will provide guidance to REACH registrants by ensuring they use the most recent and compliant methodologies.

Cefic hopes to get even more companies to join the initiative as it will help them proactively and systematically review and improve the safety data in their REACH dossier.
