Almost 300 Chemicals Identified as Candidates for Regulatory Action

Thursday, April 22, 2021

On April 21, 2021, ECHA published its third report on its Integrated Regulation Strategy which aims to identify and manage chemicals that may be hazardous for people and the environment.

In 2020, thanks to the grouping of structurally similar substances approach, ECHA managed to assess around 1900 chemicals (twice as many as in 2019) 290 of which were identified as candidates for further regulatory assessment. These group assessments have also shown that there is no need for further regulatory action for around two third of the assessed chemicals.
