ECHA has published an annual report on the exports and imports of PIC Chemicals in 2019
According to ECHA’s report, ethylene dichloride was EU’s most exported PIC chemical in 2019, which is primarily used to produce polyvinyl chloride or as a solvent. The 178 000 tons of exported ethylene dichloride represent an increase of more than 30 % compared to 2018.
On the other hand, the most imported chemical was benzene. Counting for almost 80% of all PIC imported into the EU. Benzene is used to make plastics, resins, synthetic fibers, rubber, lubricants, dyes, detergents, drugs, and pesticides.
The total amount of exported PIC Chemicals decreased by 13% compared to 2018.
