Reach Registration Compliance Inspections Now Ongoing

Friday, January 11, 2019
ECHA announces that the inspections to check compliance with REACH Registration obligations are now in progress. The inspections, which will likely be carried out in collaboration with custom authorities are part of the seventh REACH enforcement ( REF-7 project),which involves all 31 EU and EEA countries. This project aims to guaranty EU-wide enforcement of the importers and the manufacturers’ obligations to register their substances (the last registrations deadline passed in 2018). The Inspections will mainly focus on substances imported and manufactured in quantities of 1-1000 tonnes/year. Inspectors of Members States will verify whether the substances correspond to the intermediates definition and whether they are manufactured and used under strictly controlled conditions. The inspection activities will continue during all the year 2019 and the report of the results will be available in the last quarter of 2020.
