SVHC Roadmap Completion

SVHC Roadmap Completion

Monday, February 8, 2021

ECHA announces the publication of a brochure summarizing the achievements of the SVHC 2020 Roadmap. As part of the 2020 Roadmap, all relevant, currently known substances of very high concern have been identified and included on the Candidate List. The SVHC include known carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic to reproduction substances (CMRs), persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic or very persistent and very bioaccumulative substances (PBTs/vPvBs) as well as endocrine disruptors (EDs). The Candidate List now contains 211 of these substances.

The Roadmap also helped to efficiently identify new chemicals of concern by focusing on groups of chemically similar substances instead of looking at one substance at a time. It also contributed to increasing transparency and predictability around substances of concern.

ECHA confirmed the work on the Integrated Regulatory Strategy will continue, the next annual report will be published in April 2021.
