No change to Glyphosate’s Current Hazard Classification

On May 30th, 2022, ECHA announced that its Committee for Risk Assessment (RAC) agreed to keep the existing classifications for glyphosate as a substance that causes serious eye damage and is toxic to aquatic life with long-lasting effects. Based on a wide-ranging review of scientific evidence, the Committee concludes once again that classifying glyphosate as a carcinogen is not justified.

This new RAC opinion will be published on ECHA’s website and sent to the European Commission by mid-August.
