Update of EU Cosmetic Products Regulation

On July 7th, 2022, the European Commission (EC) published an update of Regulation No 1223/2009 as regards the use of certain UV filters in cosmetic products. The Commission Regulation revises Annex VI to said regulation. 2-Hydroxy-4-methoxy-benzophenone/Oxybenzone, now named Benzophenone-3, and 2-Cyano-3,3-di-phenyl acrylic acid,2-ethylhexyl ester/Octocrylene, now named Octocrylene, are currently allowed as UV filters in cosmetic products and listed in entries 4 and 10, respectively, of Annex VI to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
